Miss K’s Friday Favorites

Well, Its almost FALL Y’ALL!  In honor of that, Miss K and I made some dairy free peach ice cream and a grain free/dairy free pumpkin roll to say goodbye to summer and an early hello to fall.  So, if your tummy is craving some sweet treats, check out the recipes and let me know how you like them or how you would change them up!  For now, lets get to Miss K’s Favs this week!

  1. Lick-this artisan ice cream shop is incredible! They have some unique flavors and offer a good selection of dairy free too!
  2. Preschool Prep DVD Set-Miss K has been watching these for a little over a year now and actually requests to watch “letters” fairly regularly.
  3. Don’t Break the Ice Game-we play this game every day at least a few times a day. In fact it is now a staple on the coffee table!
  4. Crocs Kids Handle it Rain Boots-she loves slipping on these comfortable boots and running around outside  in the dirt and most recent rain puddles! I love she doesn’t have 5lbs of sand and dirt caked between her toes at bath-time!
  5. Plasma Car-this little car is fun for the whole family…boasts a 220 lb weight limit! There are other more cost effective options with weight limits of 150lbs…let me tell you though, even my husband and I get in on the fun of this toy.

Friday Favorites and Giveaway

Hey Y’all! We have had some fun this week with two birthdays, a little toddler toilet humor, and the egg jackpot! My husband and I both celebrated birthdays and let me just say I don’t really feel any different, but I’ve never been one to get all caught up in the birthday number drama. We also had the pleasure of realizing why we had been soaring through toilet paper and it was thanks to a precious curly haired 3 year old! She had been stuffing the toilet full of tissue and well finally a few days ago, it just wouldn’t flush after and entire roll had runaway in the potty! I’m not sure what happened to our three square rule but it must have just slipped Miss Ks mind 🤷🏼‍♀️ at any rate I am thankful it wasn’t an animal, toy, jewelry etc. Anyway, I also spent quite a few mornings stalking the girls since I knew the final hen was laying, but I wasn’t getting any eggs…well, after an hour yesterday morning of true commitment and feeling like I was knee deep in “going on an egg hunt” 🤣. I hit the mother load with 9 eggs in it!!

  1. Kiwi Crate– A STEAM monthly subscription to make learning fun. My niece received her first “tinker box” a week ago and she loved making the “spinning art machine”. This is a great gift for all ages and you can do short and long term subscriptions!
  2. South Carolina Student Council Members at Boiling Springs High SchoolFour student council members at Boiling Springs High School eased a mother’s heart and soared the confidence of a young man with a few words and kind gesture “would you like to sit with us today?” My heart melts with happiness and tears of joy and compassion roll from my face as I read this article! Way to go and truly be LEADERS of today and tomorrow!
  3. Netflix find–Same Kind of Different as Me-this is truly an incredibly touching film…I won’t lie, it will have you reaching for the tissue at times. Based on a true story and best selling novel about successful businessman Ron Hall and his wife, Deborah, discover a renewed sense of purpose when they begin to volunteer at a local mission in Fort Worth, Texas. Their lives change forever when they develop an unlikely friendship with Denver Moore, a homeless man who inspires them to save their struggling marriage.
  4. Public Library Story-Time-we have an AMAZING time each week with Miss Leslie where we sing songs, learn nursery rhymes, read books, learn to count and have an activity. This is such a great way to socialize both baby/toddler and mommy 👩🏼😍. Check out your local library for story-time and other activity offering (click the link for San Antonio area locations and times
  5. Jackfruit-I made jackfruit bbq this week for the first time and Miss K and I loved it! Such a quick easy, light, healthy meal for these hot summer days. (The hubby definitely prefers meat, but he did say it wasn’t bad and he ate it 😂). Just make sure to get young/unripe if you plan to substitute it in a meaty dish.
  • Giveaway!!!! Post your name along with something you are loving this week in the comment section or contact me to have a chance for a Simply Tiffs All Natural Product gift bag! No purchase necessary!

Friday Favorites

This week seemed to really fly by quicker than expected. We were quite busy with activities and such which always make time go by quickly.

  1. The Bob-I am really enjoying the new do especially in this 100+ heat we are having right now.
  2. Vox article-If your wondering why you’ve lost friends into adulthood. Let’s just say it has to do with prioritizing those you want to be close with among other things…The Golden Rule!
  3. Señor Veggie-This place is a little gem a friend of Miss K and I introduced us to. I am not vegan and I love me some meat, but let me tell you this place was delicious! I should have taken a photo of the jackfruit mole tacos I ordered, but this one from their Facebook looks identical. This experience has inspired me to start experimenting with jackfruit as I had NEVER had it before and was blown away! Anyway if you are in San Antonio this is a GREAT vegan Mexican restaurant.
  4. 30 Day Plank Challenge App-I decided to do 30 day challenge that would help strengthen my core and back and stumbled across this app. It’s a FREE app and has reminders as well as programs for all skill level! I started on Monday at the intermediate level 1 which seems to be a good fit for my current strength and fitness level.
  5. Moen Fixtures-THIS IS WINNING HERE, most Moen sink faucets, bath tub fixtures etc have a lifetime parts warranty on them so if the hose springs a leak or a seal breaks, you just call (1-800-BUY-MOEN) and they send the part needed out to you FREE! I had two faucets that had leaks in the pullout hose this week that needed repair so I called customer service up Monday and had the two hoses Wednesday to fix the faucets! Now that’s what I call EXCEPTIONAL Customer Service.

What are you enjoying this week?

Friday Favorites and a Book Giveaway

I wanted to start off today’s favorites with a neat/uplifting/inspiring story of selflessness/compassion/generosity of one young mans huge heart and a pig named Roo….this tugged at my heart for so many reasons (I raised pigs for 13 yrs as a young girl, cancer, toddlers, and compassion of others in this world). Click here to read it.

Now for the Friday Favorites

Fuse Lenses-I have to admit I am a frugal gal and when it comes to sunglasses, I like nice ones, but only buy a pair every 5-10 yrs so when I came across this company I was stoked! They make lenses for name brand glasses and have FREE shipping, polarized/non lenses as well as prescription lenses. The quality is awesome and they arrive within 3-5 days of ordering. My Ralph Lauren aviator glasses are about 5 years old and Miss K has had a field day with them so I was peaking through scratches but didn’t want to spend the $$ on a new pair so I ordered in the fuse lenses and they are like new again!

Only Love Today – by Rachel Macy StaffordA flexible, non-dated structure, Only Love Today is perfect to pick up at any time of the year and find hope and encouragement to address your current challenge or need – family, parenting, relationships, finding peace in a stressed out world. Stafford offers you strength and vision for a new and more connected way to live. This is a timeless book of inspiration to remember and live for what really matters.

Culinaria SA Restaurant Week-Happening NOW in San Antonio…it was started as a way of celebrating local, exceptional chefs and restaurants. Through sponsored culinary events, they serve as one of the leading food-focused nonprofits in the San Antonio area, providing funds for scholarship programs aimed at students pursuing a career in the hospitality or culinary industry.

Barefoot Blonde Blog– Amber Fillerup Clark is a wife, Mama and business women who shares daily thoughts, hair tutorials, travel tips and style advice.  She just posted a few blogs on starting your own blog/advice on how to blog etc.  I enjoy following along in her journeys of life, travel and parenting each week.

Yoga at the Pearl by Yoga Day-This nonprofit organization does great work in so many communities across the city and offers TWO FREE classes a week to ANYONE!!!!  I have been attending one of those every Saturday morning down at The Pearl Brewery for the past few months and it has been a great “time out/alone time” to feel present and relax my mind while rejuvenating myself/body.  They hold a FREE class every Saturday Morning At the Pearl Brewery in front of Local Coffee from 9:30am-10:30am and another FREE class at The Tea Gardens on Sunday from 5:00pm-6:00pm.  Hope to see you there sometime!

***GIVEAWAY-This week I will be giving away the ONLY LOVE TODAY book by Rachel Macy Stafford.  I will notify the winner on the blog Wednesday, August 15th so you have until then to Like, Share, Subscribe to the blog, or Comment…this is all free and doesn’t sign you up for anything and you will only be contacted to collect your book.

Good Luck to you all and enjoy the weekend!

Five Friday Favorites and a Simply Tiff’s Giveaway!

Things are finally moving smoother here on the homestead especially since it seems like the threenager has caught up on a bit of sleep and turned back into my sweet little princess!  This friday, the list encompasses pretty much every category from travel—skincare—activities—food and storage.  Hope you enjoy and share with your friends!

Emma + Ollie Diaper Backpack

I am loving this bag! This stylish, roomy, functional backpack at an incredible price has been my go to for our daytime outings.  I know some of the reviews have been pretty brutal, but the bag came in great shape and looks well made and for $35 along with everyday use even if it only lasts 6mo or a year I would definitely think I had gotten my money worth.

Admire My Skin

If you have melasma or uneven skine tone, this is a great product I began using about a month ago. This is the only product I have found that took care of the melasma on my upper lip as well as evened out and brightened the rest of my face.

Water Balloons

In the summer heat of Texas, these provide hours of fun and keep us cool! Great for entertaining, playing, or even gifts.

Paleo Puffs

These are a new find but everyone, young and old, paleo and non-paleo alike love these!

Glass Storage Containers

We have been loving these for several months now.  We use the single, two, and three compartment styles. They are microwave, freezer, and dishwasher safe which is a must for this busy mom. We pack food every time we leave the house and the three compartment style makes it easy to take a full lunch on the go for myself and Miss K.

***For the giveaway, I have packaged up a Simply Tiffs gift set (both charcoal and oatmeal goats milk soap bars, charcoal face mask, pain paste and both adult and kid bug off…$80 value)  for one lucky follower.  Share your own Friday favorites this summer by liking, commenting, or sharing this post and a winner will be chosen Monday, August, 6th.

XOXO,
